How does Fathom integrate with Salesforce?
Fathom connects to Salesforce via OAuth and maps calls to matched Contact and Account records using the attendee email domains from the calendar invitation. Once a call wraps up, Fathom creates a completed Task or Event in Salesforce containing the call title, duration, recording link, and AI-generated summary. On Fathom Team Edition, admins can also configure automatic task creation for identified action items.
02
The limitation of raw AI note dumps into Salesforce Tasks
Salesforce reporting does not run on text paragraphs inside Task Description fields; it runs on structured Opportunity, Account, and Case fields. When Fathom dumps an entire 8-paragraph summary into a Task, reps still have to manually copy deal stages, next steps, budget estimates, and onboarding blockers into dedicated CRM fields. If reps don't do this, pipeline reports remain blind to the reality of the conversation.
03
Structured CRM extraction: from transcript to custom Salesforce fields
Modern GTM engineering replaces manual note transfer with deterministic, approval-gated extraction. An automated workflow extracts the specific variables your org tracks (e.g. Current Tech Stack, Champion Pain Point, Target Close Date, Implementation Timeline) directly from the Fathom transcript and stages them as proposed updates on the Salesforce Opportunity record.
04
Why post-call writes require a human approval console
AI meeting summaries frequently hallucinate commitments or confuse past remarks with future promises. If an autonomous script writes an AI guess directly to an enterprise Salesforce Opportunity, it can trigger incorrect billing milestones or automated customer emails. Mindlyft provides the missing approval layer: reps get a 1-click review notification showing the exact proposed field writes and customer recap, clicking 'Approve' commits the updates to Salesforce with full rollback audit logging.

FAQ
Can Fathom update custom fields on Salesforce Opportunities?
Natively, Fathom primarily creates Tasks and Events with call summaries. Updating custom Opportunity fields (like Next Steps, Competitor Mentions, or Forecast Category) requires a custom integration or an execution engine like Mindlyft.
Does Fathom require meeting attendees to give consent?
Yes. Fathom adheres to international recording compliance standards. It announces its recording bot or provides in-meeting visual indicators depending on the platform (Zoom, Google Meet, Microsoft Teams).
